Daily Dose of Dave

The Maker
Live From Chicago

In 2014 the word of the day is often equality. We hear about racial, religious, and ethnic equality constantly. You can’t turn on the TV or read a newspaper with out hearing about gay rights. And that’s why I’ve always liked that Dave Matthews, a publicly pronounced atheist, chose to cover this Daniel Lanois song. The song has clear theological origins, yet Dave Matthews performs the song without a hint of sarcasm, cynicism, or derision. The lesson to be learned isn’t very deeply masked, or muddled. And if I have to spell it out, then maybe there is less hope for humanity then I thought.
