Day 2: The Saloon @ N.C. Music Factory

Charlotte, N.C.

If you’ve never been to Charlotte, N.C. I highly recommend adding it to your travel to do list.

Last time we were in Charlotte was about a year and a half ago when we played The Evening Muse during our tour with Son of a Bad Man, and quite honestly, back then we barely got a taste of Charlotte, being that we were in an older, slower paced section of town, away from the hustle of the modern age downtown environment. This time though, we had time to promote and explore downtown, and I will say, as far as US cities go, Charlotte has got to be in the top 10. It is grand and flashy without seeming grandiose and gimmicky.
We hit our first Planet Fitness of the tour, which wasn’t as painful as imagined. After the first 15 minutes, you wind up on an autopilot of sorts, and the next thing you know, you’ve run a half an hour! After that, we headed downtown for some street promo and a bite to eat, then off to load in.
The place we played at was part of a venue multiplex called the N.C. Music Factory. It’s a really cool spot, with bars, nightclubs, a comedy club, and even an outdoor amphitheater. (And an attached Wet Willies… If you don’t know what that is, look it up. I’ve got plenty of good memories involving those spots. After all, how many good stories start with “So, this one time I was sipping on a cup of tea……”)
Charlotte is also home to some amazing friends of ours. It was great to see Amanda again (and she brought cookies, which are 100% counterproductive to my Planet Fitness ideas, but they’re so tasty and 100% good for the soul!)
Our old Merch girl Tif came out, bringing an entourage with her, including her sister Cam and the incomparable Brad Patton! I hope one day someone makes a documentary of his life. I’ll be the first one in line to buy a ticket!
With the second show down, we are off to Nashville to meet up with Taproot for the next few shows!
