Ford Dives Into Driverless Automobile Research

One of the recurring topics on the Man on Earth tour bus on our last run was that of driverless cars.
Ford is making leaps and bounds in their research with their Fusion hybrid driverless prototype, as seen in the video below.

The idea of driverless cars opens up a slew of both pros and cons. I personally think that it’s the future of the automobile industry, but I love to drive, so it’s a mixed bag for me.
The increased safety of a constant 360Ā° monitoring system will reduce accidents and traffic violations. Ideally, at some point, likely in the near future, you will get in your car, punch in your destination, then utilize your time doing something other than driving.
Sounds like hours of time saved. Let’s hope Skynet doesn’t take over though, or we’d all be screwed!

‘Dumb and Dumber To’ slated for a November release

Last year had ‘Anchorman 2’…. This year we’re FINALLY getting ‘Dumb and Dumber To’!
Yes, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are back, and yes, the Farrelly brothers are at the helm again. (And sorry, Adam Root, it is not about a worm farm.)
20 years after Harry and Lloyd made their now classic journey from New England to Aspen, we find the dimwitted duo searching for one of their estranged children (Yes, somehow someone procreated with one of them…. Don’t act surprised, you’ve been to Walmart!)
This has all the elements to be comedy gold, let’s hope that it all comes together.

‘Dumb and Dumber To’ is set to hit theaters November 14

What You Are- Complete Weekend on the Rocks

Dave Mathews, while a publicly professed atheist, seems to me to have some conflicting ideas about theology and God. ‘What You Are’, and especially this version from Red Rocks, is a shining example of such.
Starting off with a slow almost haunting vocalization of the word Hallelujah that leads up to crescendo, the whole band then kicks in in full rock band mode. From there, the song goes on to talk about praying but it being as useful as holding on to a non-buoyant material while drowning… And that those praying can’t tell god what they are because he’s nonexistent….
It seems to me as if he would like to believe in a god, but there just isn’t any evidence as to such. This theme carries on throughout numerous Dmb songs, and I’m sure I’ll end up digging deeper in to it over time.

Fox to stream the Super Bowl for free on the web and iOS devices

Variety reports that this year Fox will be streaming the NFL’s 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII on both the web, and on devices running Apple’s iOS. Showing a bit of understanding of the fact that it’s the second decade of the 21st century, Fox will be live streaming the game in it’s entirety, including the halftime show to be performed by Bruno Mars.

My feelings about this are very simple: It’s about time!

In this day and age, tons of people are streaming video from the internet. And, with a game as big as the Super Bowl, people without cable television who really want to watch the Big Game will find a way to pirate it. So, why WOULDN’T a network want to broadcast something on their platforms for free that they are already broadcasting over the airwaves for free? I actually have often wondered about this. Things played live on network’s streaming sites would likely have more places for advertising, in addition to the already broadcasted commercials. Plus, they would be able to count the extra viewers in their ratings. In that vein, why wouldn’t they live stream their whole days worth of programming?

I’m betting that in the near future the big networks will all be catching on to this. Cable television companies will have to further evolve in order to compensate for the network viewership that they loose.

The Super Bowl will be broadcast Feb. 2nd on Fox, Fox.com and the FoxSportsGo mobile app for iOS devices.

Oh, and because the NFL is so threatening about their intellectual property, and I don’t have a good lawyer yet, I just wanted to say that that picture at the top of the page is theirs.
